Alvin Holzli, aged 92, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and quiet creativity. Born on June 6th, 1932, Al lived a long and colorful life filled with the pursuits he loved most - fishing in Canada, hunting in Pembine, gardening, and anything that sparked his imagination.
Though he was a Korean War veteran, Al often said that he "never felt like a veteran," as the war ended the very day he arrived in Korea . Nevertheless, his sense of duty and pride in having served never wavered.
Al worked for 38 years at Sears, providing for his large family with dedication and grit. He was married to the love of his life Patricia, for 65 wonderful years until her passing in 2022. Together they had six children Lynn (Bill) Abbott, Scott (Julie) Holzli, Heidi Holzli, Mary (John) Polaczyk, Ann Formiller, John (Ann) Holzli. Grandpa of 9 and Great Grandpa of 15.
Stubborn and tight-spirited, Al was never one to follow the crowd. His passions included cross-stiching, embroidery, building and flying remote-control airplanes with his son John, and a lifelong fascination with trains. His creative mind and hands were always busy, and his enthusiasm was contagious.
Even in later years, Al's adventurous spirit never faded. To celebrate both his 89th and 90th birthdays, he took to the skies-literally-by skydiving, grinning as he jumped out of a "perfectly good airplane" with his granddaughter Elizabeth, his son Scott, and daughter-in-law Julie.
Al Holzli lived life on his own terms-fiercely independent, always curious, and full of surprises. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
