David Keshan

The greatly beloved David Keshan passed upward into the loving arms of his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on March 28, 2019, at the age of 94.

In the beginning, there were daddy Michael Keshansky, mother Elizabeth Schaeffer Keshansky, sisters Christina, Elizabeth, Dorothy, and Ruth, and brothers Henry, Eddie, Bill, and Johnny.

Then, on November 3, 1924, along came David, being born in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. He would live to be the last of his family alive on earth.

David lived on and helped work the seven farms the family had from the mid 20's to the early 70's. Three of these were in Kenosha County and four in Waukesha County. He never married, was truly a devoted son, and lived with and helped care for his parents until their homegoings.

David had the unique opportunity to serve as locker room attendant for the visiting teams at Milwaukee County Stadium in the early 60's. His duties ranged from handing out towels, to driving up to Bluemound Road to buy burgers for the ballplayers. He once presented a baseball signed by the Houston Colt 45's to a nephew, who proudly displayed it on his shelf, until needing to use it for a game at the sandlot. When informed of this, Uncle David fully supported the ball being used so that kids could keep playing the game.

David was a very special uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. A niece fondly recalls, "On the farm in Pewaukee, there was a large, wooded area with a creek running through it. We would jump over the creek to get to the other side. One time I fell into the water. Uncle Dave laughed so hard. We then had to explain to Grandma where we were. Of course, we were not supposed to be by the creek!!"

Another niece remembers, "My Uncle David will always hold a special place in my heart, as a man of God. My first fond memory as a child was his soft, calming voice teaching us how to feed the baby calves."

A nephew often deeply thanks the Lord upon how, during the most challenging times in the young lives of his sister and him, "Uncle David was so there for us."

In his late 80's, recovering in intensive care from a surgery to correct a life-threating affliction, while coming in and out of consciousness, David ministered to all within hearing range by singing from within the depths of his soul, "Just a Closer Walk With Thee."

David loved sports, especially attending Land O' Lakes baseball games. In his later years, he received heart-touching warmth from the staff working the games at the Sussex Village Park.

In the final years of his life on earth, David visited with and received the most loving and gracious kindness from the following Christian Bible Churches: Kettle Moraine Bible Church of West Bend, Berean Grace Church of Genoa City, Poplar Creek Church in New Berlin, Bridge Church and Waukesha Bible Church of Waukesha, and Lakeshore Church of Milwaukee. Nancy of Lakeshore truly captured the sentiment shared by many one Sunday by declaring, "He is simply everybody's Uncle David!"

His favorite hymns, among the many that he loved, were: In The Garden, Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, Surely Goodness and Mercy, and Peace in the Valley. He loved the Word of God, and had all 118 words of Psalm 23 written upon his heart. The Lord truly was, and forever more shall be, his Good Shepherd.

The dedication and kindness David received at the special care facilities in which he lived the last 10 years of his life was truly outstanding. David resided at River Hills in Pewaukee, and Linden Grove, Oak Hill Terrace, and Kensington in Waukesha. He was also comforted at the very end of his life by the dear servants of Legacy Hospice. His family is, and will continue to be, eternally grateful to every one of you who were so there for him!

His earthly remains are interred at the beautiful Prairie Home Cemetery of Waukesha.

David's niece Billie "Putzie" Launzinger composed the following loving tribute:
For David, a namesake, A Shepherd a King,
To God be the glory! This David would sing.
He was there for others, in their times of great need,
God's Holy Word, he'd advise them to heed.
We do not rest on sinking sand, Nor fear the storm that rages,
For this we know we stand secure,
Upon

"Rock of Ages."


David knew full well that he was a wretched sinner in dire need of a Savior. As a young man he trusted in the perfect and finished work of the one true Savior and Lord Jesus Christ for his eternal soul salvation. He esteemed the blood of Christ Jesus as truly "precious", and totally trusted in Christ's death, burial, and
resurrection for his forgiveness. Being justified freely by God's grace through faith, he stood "complete in Christ" and could proclaim this blessedness with his namesake:

"Even as David also described the blessedness of the man unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin." Romans 4:6-8 KJV
