Doris Joan Schmidt

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Schmidt “Dori” (nee Otto), Born on June 14, 1936, Dori left us on the May 13, 2026. We remember a life lived with love, kindness and a constant spirit of caring.

Dori is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Wendel of 70 years. She was a devoted mother to Wesley (Diana) Schmidt, Charmaine (Christian) Tubbs, and Jennifer Schwartz. She is further survived by her cherished grandchildren, Evan Schmidt (Erin Hastings), Aaron Schmidt, Taylor (Matthew) DePrey, Hunter Tubbs (Kory Clark), Hayden Tubbs, and Hayley Schwartz, as well as two precious great grandsons, Emerson and Everett Schmidt.

Dori also leaves behind her loving sisters, Carol (late Robert) Lenz, and Patricia (John) Petek and so many dear nieces, nephews and friends who adored her.

Dori had a special talent for baking and a gift for making everyone feel welcome through the meals she lovingly prepared. She nurtured years of lasting friendships, and found joy in gardening, golfing and time spent with her card club. She delighted in shopping for shoes and with a quiet grace and patience, created beauty in every piece she knitted. She also found pure happiness in the company of her special grand pups.

Above all, Dori treasured time with her grandchildren. Her favorite moments were spent celebrating holidays surrounded by family.

Dori’s presence will be deeply missed - especially her warm hugs, and bright smile. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the love, joy, and kindness that defined her life.
