Joe Chabela, of Pewaukee, Wisconsin passed away on July 27, 2026, at the age of 88 years. Loving and cherished husband of Karen (nee Riley) for over 67 years. Beloved father of Brett Chabela (Amy), Kelley Maltsch (John), and Susan Wirtz (Brian). Adoring grandfather to Alan, Lawrence, Jaron, Kyle, JJ, Michelle (Kody), Kaylee and Megan (Matthew).
Joe was born on September 11, 1937 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, to Leonard “Jake” and Fern (nee Noggle). He married the love of his life, Karen, in 1959. After attending Loras Collage in Dubuque, Iowa, he began his career in education as a French and Spanish teacher. He then went on to get a master’s degree in counseling and another one in school administration. He finished his career, after many rewarding years, as a guidance counselor in the Waukesha, Wisconsin school system. He then enjoyed his retirement to the fullest, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Joe was deeply proud of his children and found immense happiness watching his grandchildren grow. He particularly enjoyed cheering on his children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren (Autumn and Chloe) during their many sporting events in Pewaukee over the years. His love for his family was steady, strong, and unwavering.
The family would like to thank The Westerly and Brighton Hospice for their loving care and support as Joe transitioned to heaven.
In accordance with Joe’s wishes, no public funeral service will be held.
