Mrs. Jane Carolyn Stadler was called home on February 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born to the late Clarence and Olga (Wagner) Henricks, April 17, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon graduating from high school, Jane went to Wisconsin State Teachers' College, joined Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in May, 1958. While attending college, Jane was wooed by a handsome man on a horse. Jane and Lew met at Wisconsin Stock Horses Association. Of course Lew fell madly in love with her. After a courtship, they married in September, 1958. Jane started teaching kindergarten in the fall of that year. She taught kindergarten with Milwaukee Public Schools for several years. In 1963, their son, William was born and 3 years later their son James. As their family grew, Jane joined the LK Stadler Inc. family business as office manager until they retired.
Jane was a remarkable woman and served her community for decades. Her contributions include: Arrowhead High School board member for 12 years, member of the CESA board, member of the Lisbon Town Board for 12 years, Parks Committee Chair from 1986 to 1990, and planning commission board from 1987 up until recently when she had to resign due to her failing health. Among her many accomplishments, in 1986, Jane was the first woman to be elected as Lisbon Town Supervisor. As a member of the Planning Commission, Jane chaired the Land Use Committee. She also served on Session for the Lisbon Presbyterian Church for many years up until her passing. Jane was a member of CCOS (Cooperating Churches of Sussex) and SOS (Sussex Outreach Services.) No matter what she was a part of, she was extremely involved.
Because of her dedication to the town of Lisbon as a resident for over 50 years, and public servant to the town for 34 years, in the week before her passing, the Lisbon Town Board passed a resolution to rename the Town Hall Park to the Jane Stadler Memorial Park in her honor. The town of Lisbon has certainly lost a pillar of our community, but her legacy will be cherished for generations.
Jane had many interests. She loved horses, dogs, cats, and birds. She loved doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, reading, playing cards and music. She loved going up north to the family cottage in Bayfield County where she enjoyed canoeing, swimming and paddle-boating in the summer, and snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in the winter. She loved camping and singing around a bonfire. Jane's generosity and kindness touched many people from different walks of life. She was well known among the camping, horseback riding, church, sorority, yoga and "up north" communities. The title, "Mom," "Aunt," "Sister," "Grandma," and even "Mother Goose," was bestowed upon her by many over the years.
Jane is survived by the loving community of Lisbon, her sister, Barbara Henricks, sons, William (Becky) Stadler, and James Stadler. Jane is further survived by 4 grandchildren Jessica (Kyle) Schrishuhn, Mark (Chantel) Stadler, Whitney (Max) Pfeifer, and Kyra Davies, and 4 great grandchildren and so many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Lew, and grandson, Seth Stadler.
